ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL

Position Details

St Mary’s Primary School Kalgoorlie is seeking a dynamic and innovative

leader to join the Leadership Team as Assistant Principal beginning

January 2021.  The successful applicant must live out their faith in their

daily lives, have demonstrated excellence in teaching and curriculum

leadership and be passionate about all students learning and

development.

 

St Mary’s Primary School is a double stream co-educational Catholic Primary School catering for children from Kindergarten to Year 6.  St Mary’s is a dynamic, vibrant and innovative school with an emphasis on developing a strong sense of Christian community.  The teaching programs strengthen and enhance learning opportunities across all Curriculum Areas.  Current resources and excellent facilities are a feature of the school environment. The committed teachers and support staff work closely in partnership with parents to provide the best opportunities for the students in their care and aim to nurture the

education of the whole person physically, spiritually, emotionally and socially.

 

St Mary’s Primary School enjoys a strong relationship with the parish, and for over 120 years, has played an important role in the establishment of Catholic Education in the Goldfields.  The historic and picturesque school is located in the center of Kalgoorlie.

               

The City of Kalgoorlie combines the past with extensive modern facilities that cater for a variety of recreational and sporting interests.

Selection Criteria

  • Be an active member of the Catholic Church

  • Previous experience in an Assistant Principal Role within a Primary School demonstrating a high level of competency and capability to support the Principal and Leadership Team in the pillars of school leadership-Catholic Identity, Education, Stewardship and Community.

  • Have demonstrated educational leadership within the areas of Special Needs, Learning Difficulties and the creation of differentiated programmes and IEP’s.

  • Ability to analyse and use student data to lead staff in raising student levels of achievement, drive future focus and guide school improvement processes.

  • The ability to mentor and develop Early Career and Graduate Teachers, engage in reflective dialogue, assist with curriculum development and professional practice.

  • Knowledge and experience working with the EYLF and NQS. Leading early childhood teachers to develop a quality play-based curriculum.

  • Deep knowledge of the West Australian Curriculum and the AITSL Standards for Teachers.

  • Prepared to work in a Team Environment.

Qualifications

  • Have a minimum of 7 years Teaching Experience

  • Current TRBWA and WWC Card

  • Relevant Tertiary Qualifications

  • Accreditation to Lead admin@stmkalg.wa.edu.au
